Highlights of the Broomfield Shootout on March 23rd, 2024

 

Girls-

Kaylee Burns, Mia Silva, Abby Sullivan, & Jenna Winn combined for a season’s best time of 11:03.97 in the 4x800m Relay.


Junior Jaylynn Wilson once again cements the Raptor victory in the 4x200m Relay

Anaya Ewing, Nobi Witt, Malanya Gaines, and Jaylynn Wilson lowered our State-Leading time in the 4x200m Relay to 1:43.65.  The Eaglecrest ‘A’ 4x200 team remains undefeated since prior to the 2022 season.  Keep an eye on this squad as they seek a 3rd straight State Championship.

Freshman Jenna Winn ran a personal team best time in the 1600m (5:54.83), which was good for #9 in school history.


Freshmen Abby Sullivan and Mia Silva both PR’d in the 800m, running 2:45.25 and 2:55.87, respectively.


Junior ShylaRay Cam lowered her PR for the 3rd straight meet in the 200m Dash, running 28.83.


Senior Addie Schmitt PR’d in the Shot Put, throwing 28’9”.


Both Raptor Long Jumpers had PR’s in the event, with Giannah Bighorn going 15’0”, and Chloe Castillo leaping 14’1.5”.


Sophomore Olivia Sarmiento jumped to big PR in the Triple Jump, going 31’7”.


Overall, the girls obtained 11 new PR’s on the Day, and set 2 All-Time EHS Top-10 Marks.



Shaw to Jackson en route to School Record Mixed 4x400m Relay

The Mixed 4x400 Team, the first one in EHS history, combined for a school record of 4:05.16.  The team was made up of Olivia Sarmiento, Ellie Shaw, Cory Jackson, and Joe Steiner.


The Girls Athlete of the Meet was Olivia Sarmiento.

 

Boys-

Senior Brayden Roe, fresh of the news of earning The Daniels Fund Scholarship, ran a PR of 12:21.45 in the 3200m Run.


Peter Ames continued his breakout season, PR’ing in both hurdle events.  The Senior ran 15.83 in the 110’s and 42.02 in the 300’s.  His 110m time was good for #10 All-Time.

Junior Noah Brown won the 100m Dash with a time 10.89, which is a wind-legal PR for the 2-Sport Star. 


Finn Smith reeled off a big PR in the 1600m, running a 5:18.81, with teammate Kaleb Packer running a season best of 4:53.24.

Sophomore hurdlers Miles Turner and Cameron Bell PR’d in their “training event,” the 400m.  Turner ran a 55.28 and Bell a 58.08.


Evan Keppy ran the race of his life in the 800m, with a 12 second personal best, clocking 2:00.28.  Teammate Brady Hoffman was close behind in a PR time of 2:04.84.


Sophomore Bode Adelake led the way for the Raptors in the 200m Dash, clocking a lifetime best of 23.66.  Freshman Cy White dipped below 24 seconds for the first time in his career, clocking a 23.96.


Senior Kael Weatherby moved up the All-Time EHS record board in both throws. Kael took 4th in the Shot with a toss of 48’11”, and 8th in the Discus with a 135’2”.  Kael is now 6th All-Time in the Discus, and 7th in the Shot Put.  Jovan Jones PR’d in both Throws as well (36’9” in Shot, 113’5” in Disc), and Naizel Keys-Miller threw a personal best of 41’9” in the Shot.


Junior Kendell Moreland bested his PR in the Long Jump once again with a 20’5.5” leap.  Sophomore Hyrum Dabb came through big in the High Jump with a PR of 5’8”.  Senior Jayden Diggins took 4th in the High Jump with a season’s best 6’0”.


Poku, Brown, Chapa, & Warah celebrate their Meet Record in the 4x100m Relay

The story of the day for the Raptor guys was their sweep of the sprint relays, running season bests in all three.  The 4x100 team of Noah Brown, Jeff Poku, Cam Chapa, and Peace Warah earned gold in a meet record time of 42.26 (#8 EHS All-Time).  In the 4x200, Poku, Cory Jackson, Chapa, and Warah combined for the win in 1:29.17.  The boys didn’t disappoint at the end of a long day when it was time for the 4x400.  Bryson States came out of the blocks like a madman, taking a lead that the Raptors would not give up.  Chapa, Warah, and Xavier Waldron kept States’ momentum and ran an EHS #2 time of 3:23.93 (.74 seconds from the school record), which was also good for a Colorado #1 ranking.

The boys finished the day with 21 PR's and 6 All-Time EHS marks.
